Custom Shop Strat vibe with road warrior feel and zero compromise

This LTD 62 Stratocaster Heavy Relic is that rare Custom Shop build that feels like a broken in lifer the second you pick it up. All the vintage 60s Strat character is here, but with a neck, fretwork, and pickup set that make it a serious tool for modern players, not just a case queen.

Aged Daphne Blue over burst that looks and feels played in for decades

The alder 60 Stratocaster body wears a Heavy Relic Aged Daphne Blue over 3 Color Sunburst finish that looks like it has seen smoky bars, long tours, and a thousand songs. You see the sunburst peeking through the wear, the checking, and the honest looking scars, and it instantly feels like an old friend instead of a shiny museum piece.

Because the relic is done by the Custom Shop, it is all about feel and vibe. The edges are rounded, the forearm contour feels broken in, and there is nothing sticky to fight against. At 8 pounds it hits that sweet spot where the guitar feels solid and resonant, but you can still wear it for a full set without thinking about your shoulder.

Roasted quarter sawn neck with a big comfortable C

The quarter sawn roasted maple neck with a Large C profile is pure player comfort. The custom dimensions, .850 inches at the first fret and .990 inches at the 12th, give you a handful of wood that fills the palm without turning into a baseball bat. It feels substantial and inspiring, especially for players who dig in and like to feel the neck fight back a bit.

An AAA rosewood fingerboard with a 9.50 inch radius and 21 jumbo 6100 frets means bends are buttery and intonation stays true all the way up the neck. Vintage clay face dots and side dots keep the look classic, but the playability is firmly in the modern sweet spot. The early 60s truss rod, small headstock, and period correct decal keep the whole thing dripping with vintage Strat attitude.

Hand wound pickups that give you the full Strat spectrum

This pickup set is the magic trick. The hand wound 69 Strat neck pickup gives you that glassy, open top end that loves reverb and delay. In the middle, a hand wound Fat 50s brings a little extra meat and chime for those in between positions that sit perfectly in a mix.

When you flip to the bridge, the hand wound Texas Special brings the bite, grit, and midrange cut you want for solos and crunchy rhythm. The SSS configuration, 5 way switch, and 250K pots with vintage mod wiring keep everything familiar under your fingers but with more nuance under your right hand. Roll the volume back and it cleans up with clarity, dig in and it barks.

Relic gold hardware and Voo Doo shell details

Relic gold hardware across the board makes this guitar look like something a pro has been dragging around the world for decades. The Custom Shop Vintage Strat bridge in CC Gold, vintage style tuners with the Fender logo, and matching string tree and output jack all carry the same aged glow that sets this guitar apart from standard relics.

The Voo Doo Strat shell relic pickguard ties the whole look together with a subtle flash against the aged Daphne Blue and burst. It is classy, unique, and just a little bit wild. The best part is that none of this is just for show; the hardware feels smooth, solid, and road ready from the first tune up.

Built, inspected, and set up like it is going into our own rigs

Real talk, this is Custom Shop money, and it should feel like it the second you open the case. Every guitar that comes through our doors gets inspected when it arrives, then gets a full Player Perfect setup before it leaves. That means proper relief, dialed in action, clean fretwork, and intonation checked across the board.

This LTD 62 Stratocaster includes the Fender Custom Shop Strat/Tele brown case and all the case candy. It is in our Evansville, Indiana shop right now, photographed, weighed, and triple checked by players who actually gig these kinds of guitars. Order before 3 PM CST and it ships today, ready to plug into your rig and go straight to the gig or the session.

The Lowdown

The Lowdown

We get it. Buying a guitar you haven’t played is a big decision. You need to know it’s going to feel right, sound right, and inspire you the second you open the case. We put together the questions we’d be asking if we were in your shoes—the real-world stuff that specs alone can’t answer. If there’s anything else you’re wondering about, just give us a call.

This LTD 62 Stratocaster has plenty of collector appeal, but it is built to be played hard. The heavy relic finish, roasted quarter sawn neck, jumbo frets, and hand wound pickups are all choices that favor feel, stability, and tone on stage and in the studio. If you want a guitar you can actually gig without babying while still owning a serious Custom Shop piece, this hits that sweet spot.
The Large C on this guitar is fuller than a slim 60s C but not a huge baseball bat. With custom measurements of .850″ at the first fret and .990″ at the 12th, it fills your hand in a really comfortable way, especially if you like to wrap your thumb or dig in for big bends. It gives you more wood to hang onto, more sustain, and a slightly more relaxed fretting hand over long sets.
You are getting three distinct voices that work together instead of three versions of the same sound. The hand wound 69 neck gives you shimmering glass and clarity, the Fat 50s middle adds body and chime for those quack positions, and the Texas Special bridge brings the extra mid push you want for leads and punchy rhythm. With the 5 way switch and vintage mod wiring, every position is usable and records beautifully without a fight.
It is definitely a true Heavy Relic, so you will see plenty of wear through the Aged Daphne Blue into the 3 color sunburst, plus dings, checking, and hardware aging. That said, it is classic Custom Shop work, so it feels natural and purposeful, not cheesy or overdone. The neck in particular feels broken in and smooth, and the relic gold hardware looks like it has seen years of gigs while still functioning like brand new hardware.
Of course. Every guitar gets our full Player-Perfect setup, but tell us your preferred string gauge and action at checkout, and we’ll dial it in exactly to your spec before it leaves the shop.
This guitar is covered by our 72-Hour Love-It Guarantee. If you’re not completely inspired by it, just let us know. We’ll make it right.
If you order before 3 PM CST on a weekday, it ships the same day. We’ll get it into your hands fast with free, insured 2-3 day shipping.
