Product Description

The Apex Predator of P-Bass Tone

Meet the Fender American Ultra II Precision Bass—a masterclass in design that blends iconic thump with state-of-the-art electronics. This isn’t just an evolution; it’s a whole new animal. Finished in a stunningly clean Avalanche gloss, this bass is built for the player who demands versatility without compromise. From the rock-solid foundation of its select alder body to the lightning-fast feel of its quartersawn maple neck, every detail is engineered for peak performance.

Modern Feel, Classic Soul

The magic starts with the neck. Fender chose quartersawn maple for its incredible stability and resonance, shaped into a player-friendly Modern “D” profile. The satin finish feels like it’s already been played for years—fast, smooth, and utterly comfortable. Paired with a 10″-14″ compound radius fingerboard, you get the best of both worlds: effortless chording down low and choke-free bends up high. It’s a neck that just gets out of the way and lets you play.

A Universe of Tone

This is where the Ultra II truly earns its name. The pickup configuration combines a hum-free Ultra II Noiseless™ Vintage P-Bass split-coil with a growling Ultra II Noiseless™ J-Bass single-coil at the bridge. But the real power lies in the redesigned preamp. An S-1™ switch on the volume knob lets you flip between a pure, vintage-style passive circuit and a powerful 18V active preamp. The active EQ is a tone-sculptor’s dream, with stacked knobs for boost/cut across the bass, mids, and treble, plus a mini-toggle to select the midrange frequency you want to shape. From old-school pocket grooves to modern, hi-fi slap tones, it’s all in there.

Built for the Road

Every piece of hardware is chosen for reliability and performance. The HiMass™ bridge can be strung through the body for maximum sustain or top-loaded for a slinkier feel, giving you options to tailor your attack. Fender’s lightweight vintage-paddle tuners keep you in tune with precision, while locking strap buttons ensure your bass stays put, no matter how wild the gig gets. This is a pro-grade tool, built to deliver night after night.

The Lowdown

We get it. Buying a guitar you haven’t played is a big decision. You need to know it’s going to feel right, sound right, and inspire you the second you open the case. We put together the questions we’d be asking if we were in your shoes—the real-world stuff that specs alone can’t answer. If there’s anything else you’re wondering about, just give us a call.

It’s all about versatility. With the S-1 switch down, you’re in passive mode—giving you that classic, warm P-Bass tone that’s been on countless records. Push the button to engage the 18V active preamp, and you unlock a more modern, hi-fi sound with powerful onboard EQ to shape your tone for any mix. It’s like having two basses in one.
Quartersawn maple is cut from the log in a way that makes the grain perpendicular to the fretboard. This results in a neck that’s significantly more rigid and stable, making it less susceptible to changes in humidity and temperature. For a player, that means better tuning stability and a snappy, responsive feel you can count on.
Of course. Every guitar gets our full Player-Perfect™ setup, but tell us your preferred string gauge and action at checkout, and we’ll dial it in exactly to your spec before it leaves the shop.
This guitar is covered by our 72-Hour Love-It Guarantee. If you’re not completely inspired by it, just let us know. We’ll make it right.
If you order before 3 PM CST on a weekday, it ships the same day. We’ll get it into your hands fast with free, insured 2-3 day shipping.
