Product Description

Vintage 1954 Strat magic without chasing a fragile original

This 70th Anniversary American Vintage II 1954 Stratocaster is Fender celebrating the birth of the Strat in all the right ways. Ash body, nitro gloss, 1 piece maple neck and those 70th Anniversary 1954 pickups give you the glassy chime, bite and bloom that made the first Strats legends.

At 8.4 lbs with a resonant 2 piece ash body, it has that solid, piano like attack and sustain that fills a mix without getting muddy. The gloss nitrocellulose lacquer is thin and alive, so the guitar feels and reacts like a broken in vintage piece instead of a plastic coated reissue.

Resonant ash body and nitro finish that sings

Fender went with a 2 piece ash body for a reason. You get quick, snappy response on the bottom, scooped mids and that shimmering top end that Strats are famous for. Hit a clean chord and you will hear the notes bloom and hang in the air.

The gloss nitrocellulose lacquer finish is all about tone and feel. Nitro lets the wood breathe and resonate more freely than thick poly, so the guitar feels more alive under your hands and opens up even more as you play it. The classic 2 Color Sunburst is pure 1954 Strat, the kind of look that never goes out of style.

1954 C neck that feels like home

The 1 piece maple neck is carved to a period correct 1954 C profile, which hits that sweet spot between chunky and slim. It fills your hand just enough to keep your fretting hand relaxed, which means better vibrato, better bends and a more connected feel with every note.

A 7.25 inch radius maple fingerboard with vintage frets keeps things authentically old school. Chords feel comfortable and natural, and once you get used to it, bending on this radius has a buttery, vocal quality you just do not get on flatter boards. The gloss nitro finish on the neck completes the vintage vibe without feeling sticky.

70th Anniversary 1954 pickups with real Strat sparkle

The 70th Anniversary 1954 single coil Strat pickups are voiced to nail that first generation Strat tone. The neck pickup is bell like and glassy for blues, ballads and clean worship tones. The middle pickup gives you that woody, slightly scooped rhythm voice that just sits in a mix.

Kick over to the bridge and it barks with plenty of bite and cut, but it is not an ice pick. Plug into a cranked tube amp and it snarls, back off your volume and it cleans up with sweet, articulate chime. Real talk, if you love early Strat tones, this set will make you grin the first time you hit an open E chord.

Vintage correct hardware, modern reliability

The Pure Vintage synchronized tremolo with cold rolled steel block and bent steel saddles is a huge part of the feel and tone. The steel block adds mass and sustain, while the stamped saddles give you that classic Strat top end and string to string clarity. Use the 50s style trem arm for subtle vibrato and it will stay in tune when set up right.

Vintage style tuners, 6 screw tremolo mounting and the single ply white guard keep the look period correct. The 4 bolt neck with 70th Anniversary engraved plate and vintage style strap buttons tie the whole package together as a true celebration of the original design.

Collector worthy, built to be played

This is not just a case queen. With a 25.5 inch scale, 1.625 inch bone nut, 8.4 lb weight and Fender USA 250R 10 46 strings, it is ready for real stage and studio work. The included vintage style tweed case and period correct case candy make it a must have for Strat fans who also care about provenance.

Pictures are of the actual guitar, serial V702352, so what you see is what shows up at your door. It has been inspected three times in our Evansville shop and dialed in with a pro setup, so it will feel right the second you pull it from the case.

The Lowdown

We get it. Buying a guitar you haven’t played is a big decision. You need to know it’s going to feel right, sound right, and inspire you the second you open the case. We put together the questions we’d be asking if we were in your shoes—the real-world stuff that specs alone can’t answer. If there’s anything else you’re wondering about, just give us a call.

Yes. The 70th Anniversary Stratocaster Collection is being built in limited quantities, so these are not going to be hanging on every wall forever. This American Vintage II 1954 model captures the original spec in a way that appeals to both players and collectors, and it ships with a vintage-style tweed case and period-correct case candy. If this one speaks to you, do not sit on it too long.
This is about as old-school Strat as you can get without buying an actual 50s original. You get a 1954 C profile 1-piece maple neck, 7.25″ radius, vintage-style frets and a bone nut at 1.625″. It feels like a proper mid-50s Strat under your hand. If you are used to super-flat shred necks, it will feel different at first, but a lot of players end up loving the way it relaxes your hand and makes vibrato and phrasing more vocal.
Used the way it was intended, absolutely. The Pure Vintage synchronized trem with cold rolled steel block and bent steel saddles is built for expressive vibrato and subtle warbles, not divebomb abuse. With a proper setup, a good nut, correct stringing and the right spring tension, it will return to pitch reliably for bluesy touches, surf shimmers and classic Strat wobble. If you want extreme trem tricks, a locking system is a better call.
Modern American Strats often lean toward flatter radii, hotter pickups and more switching options. This 70th Anniversary American Vintage II 1954 Strat is aimed squarely at players who want the sound, feel and look of an original mid-50s Strat. The pickups are lower output and more open, the neck is rounder, and the 3-way switch keeps things simple and vintage. If you love classic records and want that response under your fingers, this is where it shines.
Of course. Every guitar gets our full Player-Perfect™ setup, but tell us your preferred string gauge and action at checkout, and we’ll dial it in exactly to your spec before it leaves the shop.
This guitar is covered by our 72-Hour Love-It Guarantee. If you’re not completely inspired by it, just let us know. We’ll make it right.
If you order before 3 PM CST on a weekday, it ships the same day. We’ll get it into your hands fast with free, insured 2-3 day shipping.
