Product Description

The Telecaster, Reimagined for Heavy

This isn’t your granddaddy’s twang machine. This is the Fender Jim Root Telecaster, a beast that packs the iconic Tele body shape with a stripped-down, high-gain heart. This pre-owned 2020 model in Flat White is in very good condition and comes with its original hardshell case, ready to unleash some serious sonic fury. It’s a collaboration that takes a classic design and overhauls it for the modern metal player, delivering crushing tone and surgical precision.

Mahogany Body & Active EMGs

Right away, you’ll notice this Tele feels different. The mahogany body provides a thick, warm tonal foundation with incredible sustain, a departure from the traditional ash or alder. Paired with a set of legendary EMG active pickups, an 81 in the bridge and a 60 in the neck, this guitar is built to deliver pure, unadulterated power. The result is a sound that’s massive, tight, and articulate, even under the heaviest distortion.

Engineered for Speed and Simplicity

Every detail here is about performance. The Modern “C” maple neck with its satin finish feels fast and smooth, while the 12-inch radius ebony fingerboard and 22 jumbo frets are perfect for both aggressive riffing and fluid lead work. The controls are brutally efficient: a single master volume and a three-way blade switch are all you need. To top it off, locking tuners and a 6-saddle hardtail bridge provide rock-solid tuning stability, no matter how hard you play.

Anatomy of a Tone Machine

Anatomy of a Tone Machine

Perfect for: Metal • Hard Rock • Drop-Tuning • Modern Rock

Tone

  • Bridge pickup delivers the iconic tight, articulate crunch of the EMG 81, perfect for percussive riffing and searing leads.
  • Neck pickup offers a surprisingly warm and glassy clean tone, with a fluid, almost single-coil-like character for articulate solos under gain.
  • The middle position blends the two for a full-bodied, usable tone that works well for both rhythm and lead playing.
  • The mahogany body adds a layer of warmth and resonance not typically found in a Tele, creating a massive, chunky sound.

Playing Feel

  • The mahogany body gives it a solid, substantial feel, balancing well without being overly heavy.
  • The Modern "C" neck profile combined with a satin finish and 12" radius ebony board feels incredibly fast and comfortable.
  • Responds instantly to aggressive picking, with the active pickups keeping every note clear and defined.
  • A true player's guitar, built for long sessions in the studio or on stage with its straightforward, no-nonsense design.

Versatility

  • While it shines with high-gain, the EMG 60 provides very usable and warm clean tones, making it more versatile than it looks.
  • The active EMG pickups provide a powerful, consistent signal that's a perfect platform for any pedalboard.
  • In the studio, it records like a dream, delivering a tight, mix-ready tone that requires minimal tweaking.
  • Cuts through a dense mix with ease, whether you're playing tight rhythm parts or soaring leads.

The Lowdown

We get it. Buying a guitar you haven’t played is a big decision. You need to know it’s going to feel right, sound right, and inspire you the second you open the case. We put together the questions we’d be asking if we were in your shoes—the real-world stuff that specs alone can’t answer. If there’s anything else you’re wondering about, just give us a call.

It completely transforms it. Instead of the bright ‘twang’ you’d expect, the mahogany provides a much warmer, thicker, and heavier tone with a ton of sustain, making it ideal for hard rock and metal.
While they excel at high-gain, they’re surprisingly versatile. The EMG 81 in the bridge is tight and aggressive, but the EMG 60 in the neck offers some beautiful, glassy clean tones that are warm and articulate, making this guitar useful for more than just heavy genres.
Of course. Every guitar gets our full Player-Perfect™ setup, but tell us your preferred string gauge and action at checkout, and we’ll dial it in exactly to your spec before it leaves the shop.
This guitar is covered by our 14-Day Return Policy. If you’re not completely inspired by it, just let us know. We’ll make it right.
Orders ship same day in most cases and arrive within 1-4 business days with free, insured shipping. We’ll get it into your hands as quickly as we can.
Call us at (888) 794-8482. You’ll talk to a real musician who can answer anything you need to know.
