Product Description

The Working Musician’s Rosewood Powerhouse

Meet the Taylor Next Generation 414ce, a guitar that feels like an old friend but is packed with Taylor’s latest innovations. This isn’t just another spruce and rosewood Grand Auditorium. It’s a finely-tuned instrument built for the stage, studio, and songwriting sessions, delivering that classic, beloved acoustic tone with more power, sustain, and playability than ever before.

The heart of this guitar is the timeless combination of a solid Sitka spruce top and solid Indian rosewood back and sides. This pairing delivers the magic: warm, rich lows, crystal-clear highs, and a slightly scooped midrange that lets vocals sit perfectly in the mix. It’s responsive enough for delicate fingerstyle and bold enough for aggressive strumming, offering a huge dynamic range that captures every nuance of your playing.

V-Class Bracing and Next-Gen Neck

Under the hood, Taylor’s scalloped V-Class bracing is a game-changer. You’ll notice the difference immediately. Notes have more power, bloom with longer sustain, and chords ring with stunning harmonic purity all the way up the neck. Paired with the new Action Control Neck™, which uses a long-tenon joint for added warmth and depth, the result is a guitar that resonates with incredible richness and feels alive in your hands.

Stage-Ready Claria Electronics

When it’s time to plug in, the new Claria Acoustic Pickup System faithfully translates the 414ce’s natural voice. The preamp features soundhole-mounted controls, including an innovative Mid-Contour knob that makes dialing in your perfect live sound incredibly simple. Whether you’re cutting through a full band or laying down tracks in the studio, the Claria system ensures your amplified tone is as pure and inspiring as your acoustic one.

The Lowdown

We get it. Buying a guitar you haven’t played is a big decision. You need to know it’s going to feel right, sound right, and inspire you the second you open the case. We put together the questions we’d be asking if we were in your shoes—the real-world stuff that specs alone can’t answer. If there’s anything else you’re wondering about, just give us a call.

The biggest updates are the scalloped V-Class bracing for a richer low-end response, the new Action Control Neck for enhanced warmth and easy setup adjustments, and the innovative Claria pickup system for superior plugged-in tone. It takes the versatile 414ce platform and pushes its performance capabilities even further.
Indian Rosewood is a classic for a reason. It produces a very rich, full-range tone with powerful low-end overtones and a strong, clear high end. Compared to mahogany, it has a more ‘hi-fi’ sound with a broader frequency range, while woods like ovangkol (previously used on the 400 series) are a bit more midrange-focused. Rosewood is the sound of countless iconic acoustic recordings.
Of course. Every guitar gets our full Player-Perfect™ setup, but tell us your preferred string gauge and action at checkout, and we’ll dial it in exactly to your spec before it leaves the shop.
This guitar is covered by our 14-Day Return Policy. If you’re not completely inspired by it, just let us know. We’ll make it right.
Orders ship same day in most cases and arrive within 1-4 business days with free, insured shipping. We’ll get it into your hands as quickly as we can.
