Product Description

The Perfect Acoustic Starting Point

This pre-owned Taylor Academy 12e is a fantastic find, especially for a player looking for that classic Taylor feel and tone in a super-comfortable package. It’s in excellent condition and ready for a new home. The Grand Concert body shape is compact and focused, making it a joy to play whether you’re on the couch or tracking in the studio. Its articulate voice is perfect for fingerstyle, but it has enough punch for light-to-medium strumming, too.

Torrefied Top, Seasoned Tone

The secret to the Academy 12e’s warm, responsive voice is its solid torrefied spruce top. Taylor’s special roasting process ages the wood, giving it the character of a much older, well-played guitar right out of the box. This treatment enhances richness and sustain, providing a mature sound that’s rare at this price point. Paired with layered walnut back and sides, you get a sound that’s clear in the highs with a woody, present midrange that will only get warmer over time.

Unmatched Playability

One of the standout features of the Academy series is the built-in armrest, a feature usually reserved for high-end models. It softens the edge of the body, making your picking and strumming arm much more comfortable during long sessions. Combine that with the legendary slim Taylor neck profile and a slightly shorter 24-7/8″ scale length, and you have a guitar that feels effortless to play. Bending strings and fretting complex chords is a buttery-smooth experience.

Stage-Ready Electronics

When you’re ready to plug in, the onboard ES-B electronics have you covered. This system includes a pickup and a preamp with a built-in digital chromatic tuner, so you’re always ready to get in tune and on stage. The controls are simple and intuitive, letting you dial in your sound quickly without a fuss.

The Lowdown

We get it. Buying a guitar you haven’t played is a big decision. You need to know it’s going to feel right, sound right, and inspire you the second you open the case. We put together the questions we’d be asking if we were in your shoes—the real-world stuff that specs alone can’t answer. If there’s anything else you’re wondering about, just give us a call.

Torrefaction is a wood roasting process that mimics the aging of vintage guitars. It gives the Academy 12e a warmer, more responsive, and more complex tone right out of the box, so you don’t have to wait years for it to open up.
Absolutely. The Grand Concert is Taylor’s most compact full-size shape. Its smaller dimensions and tapered waist make it incredibly comfortable to hold and play, especially for those with a smaller frame or anyone who finds larger dreadnoughts a bit cumbersome.
Of course. Every guitar gets our full Player-Perfect™ setup, but tell us your preferred string gauge and action at checkout, and we’ll dial it in exactly to your spec before it leaves the shop.
This guitar is covered by our 14-Day Return Policy. If you’re not completely inspired by it, just let us know. We’ll make it right.
Orders ship same day in most cases and arrive within 1-4 business days with free, insured shipping. We’ll get it into your hands as quickly as we can.
