Product Description

A Songwriter with Tuxedo Style

This pre-owned Gibson Custom Shop Songwriter EC is a flat-out stunner, blending classic dreadnought power with the sophisticated looks of a Les Paul Custom. It’s a true player’s piece, built in Gibson’s esteemed Custom Shop to be an inspiring partner for both the stage and the studio. The foundation of its tone is the timeless combination of a solid Sitka spruce top and solid rosewood back and sides, delivering a sound that’s both powerful and harmonically rich.

Classic Woods, Custom Voicing

The Sitka spruce top provides incredible dynamic range, offering glassy articulation when you play softly and a powerful, clear projection when you dig in. Paired with rosewood, the result is a deep, resonant low end, a slightly scooped midrange perfect for accompanying a vocalist, and a top end that shimmers. The traditional hand-scalloped X-bracing ensures the top can vibrate freely, enhancing its responsiveness and tonal complexity. It’s a sound that records beautifully and sits perfectly in a mix.

Stage-Ready Electronics & Feel

When you’re ready to plug in, the L.R. Baggs Session VTC electronics capture the guitar’s natural acoustic voice with stunning accuracy. The system is designed to deliver a studio-mic’d sound through any PA, with simple, soundhole-mounted controls for volume and tone. The playability is just as impressive, with a comfortable “Round” profile mahogany neck, a smooth ebony fingerboard with a 12-inch radius, and a cutaway that gives you easy access to the upper frets.

Unmistakable Custom Aesthetics

Dressed in a gloss Ebony nitrocellulose lacquer, this guitar commands attention. The multi-ply binding on the body and headstock, mother-of-pearl block inlays, and the iconic split-diamond headstock inlay are all hallmarks of a top-tier Gibson Custom instrument. Gold Grover Rotomatic tuners and brass bridge pins complete the high-end appointments, making this a guitar that looks every bit as good as it sounds.

The Lowdown

We get it. Buying a guitar you haven’t played is a big decision. You need to know it’s going to feel right, sound right, and inspire you the second you open the case. We put together the questions we’d be asking if we were in your shoes—the real-world stuff that specs alone can’t answer. If there’s anything else you’re wondering about, just give us a call.

The L.R. Baggs Session VTC is an advanced system designed to sound like your guitar being played into a high-end studio microphone. It goes beyond a simple pickup by incorporating features that add warmth, dimension, and a natural feel to your amplified sound, avoiding the sterile ‘quack’ often associated with basic piezo systems.
Hand-scalloping the braces is a traditional technique where the luthier carefully shaves away wood from the internal bracing. This reduces the brace’s mass, allowing the spruce top to vibrate more freely. The result is a guitar with a quicker response, greater dynamic range, and a more complex, resonant tone.
Of course. Every guitar gets our full Player-Perfect™ setup, but tell us your preferred string gauge and action at checkout, and we’ll dial it in exactly to your spec before it leaves the shop.
This guitar is covered by our 72-Hour Love-It Guarantee. If you’re not completely inspired by it, just let us know. We’ll make it right.
Orders ship same day in most cases and arrive within 1-4 business days with free, insured shipping. We’ll get it into your hands as quickly as we can.
