Product Description

Vintage Vibe, Modern Reliability

Here’s the real deal: a pre-owned 2023 Fender American Vintage II 1963 Telecaster that absolutely nails the feel and tone of a golden-era classic. Finished in a gorgeous Surf Green nitrocellulose lacquer, this guitar is built to age gracefully, checking and wearing in just like a true vintage piece. It’s got that authentic ’63 vibe, from the round-lam rosewood fingerboard to the period-correct pickups, delivering the tones that defined a decade of music.

Timeless Tone and Feel

The heart of this Tele is its pair of Pure Vintage ’63 single-coil pickups. These are meticulously voiced to replicate the bright, jangly, and twangy bite of the originals. The bridge pickup delivers that iconic Tele snap and cut, while the neck pickup offers a smoother, warmer voice perfect for rhythm or glassy leads. The alder body provides a balanced and resonant foundation, letting every note bloom with classic Fender character.

Authentic Neck Profile

The 1963 “C” shape maple neck is a pure joy to play. It has enough heft to feel substantial in your hand without being cumbersome, offering a comfortable grip for chords and single-note runs alike. Paired with a vintage 7.25″ radius round-laminated rosewood fingerboard and vintage tall frets, you get an effortless playing experience that feels immediately familiar and inspiring. The bone nut and threaded steel barrel saddles ensure solid tuning stability and authentic vintage intonation.

The Lowdown

We get it. Buying a guitar you haven’t played is a big decision. You need to know it’s going to feel right, sound right, and inspire you the second you open the case. We put together the questions we’d be asking if we were in your shoes—the real-world stuff that specs alone can’t answer. If there’s anything else you’re wondering about, just give us a call.

The round-laminated, or ’round-lam’, fingerboard was a key change for Fender in 1962-63. It’s a thinner veneer of rosewood compared to the earlier ‘slab’ boards. Tonally, it’s said to add a little more brightness and attack from the maple underneath, while still keeping the warmth of rosewood. It’s a subtle, but key ingredient in this guitar’s authentic ’63 sound.
The gloss nitrocellulose lacquer is a vintage-correct finish that’s much thinner than modern polyurethane finishes. This allows the alder body to breathe and resonate more freely, which many players feel improves the tone and sustain. It also ages beautifully, developing a unique patina, checking, and wear pattern over time based on how you play it.
Of course. Every guitar gets our full Player-Perfect™ setup, but tell us your preferred string gauge and action at checkout, and we’ll dial it in exactly to your spec before it leaves the shop.
This guitar is covered by our 14-Day Return Policy. If you’re not completely inspired by it, just let us know. We’ll make it right.
Orders ship same day in most cases and arrive within 1-4 business days with free, insured shipping. We’ll get it into your hands as quickly as we can.
