Product Description

Vintage Soul, Modern Fire

This pre-owned 2018 Ernie Ball Music Man Cutlass RS HSS is a masterclass in blending classic design with modern performance. Dressed in a stunning Firemist Silver finish, this guitar feels instantly familiar, yet it’s packed with player-centric upgrades that make it a true workhorse. The alder body provides a resonant, balanced tonal foundation, while the custom-wound Music Man pickups deliver a versatile sonic palette that’s ready for any stage or studio.

The Roasted Maple Neck

The first thing you’ll notice when you pick up this Cutlass is the incredible feel of its figured roasted maple neck. Not only does the roasting process enhance stability and resonance, but it also gives the wood a gorgeous, caramelized look. Finished with a hand-rubbed oil and wax blend, this neck is all about smooth, unrestricted movement. The clever neck profile, which transitions from a soft “V” in the lower register to a comfortable “C” as you move up the neck, feels just right for both chording and soloing.

Sonic Versatility on Tap

The HSS pickup configuration is the secret weapon here. The Music Man custom-wound ceramic humbucker in the bridge position serves up punch, bite, and harmonic richness, perfect for driving rock tones and articulate leads. In the neck and middle positions, you’ll find custom-wound single coils that deliver all the glassy, bell-like chime you could want. The 5-way switch offers those essential in-between tones, giving you everything from spanky funk to warm, vocal-like blues.

Built for the Player

Every detail on the Cutlass RS is designed for performance. The Music Man Modern tremolo with vintage bent-steel saddles offers a smooth, stable response for everything from subtle shimmers to deep dives. Up top, Schaller M6-IND locking tuners ensure rock-solid tuning stability, so you can play with confidence. Add in the 22 stainless steel frets for buttery bends and a long life, and you have a guitar that’s truly built to be played.

The Lowdown

We get it. Buying a guitar you haven’t played is a big decision. You need to know it’s going to feel right, sound right, and inspire you the second you open the case. We put together the questions we’d be asking if we were in your shoes—the real-world stuff that specs alone can’t answer. If there’s anything else you’re wondering about, just give us a call.

Roasting the maple removes moisture and cures the wood, making it significantly more stable and resistant to humidity changes. Tonally, it adds a touch of snap and resonance, almost like a vintage, broken-in instrument. The hand-rubbed oil and wax finish makes it feel incredibly fast and smooth to the touch.
It’s one of the most versatile setups you can get. The bridge humbucker gives you the power and punch for rock and heavier styles without the 60-cycle hum. The single coils provide the classic, chimey tones perfect for blues, pop, and funk. The in-between positions are fantastic for rhythm playing. It’s really a do-it-all guitar.
Of course. Every guitar gets our full Player-Perfect™ setup, but tell us your preferred string gauge and action at checkout, and we’ll dial it in exactly to your spec before it leaves the shop.
This guitar is covered by our 14-Day Return Policy. If you’re not completely inspired by it, just let us know. We’ll make it right.
Orders ship same day in most cases and arrive within 1-4 business days with free, insured shipping. We’ll get it into your hands as quickly as we can.
