Product Description

The Tuxedo Les Paul, Reimagined

This isn’t just a tribute—it’s a meticulously crafted powerhouse that brings the legendary Les Paul Custom experience to a new generation. As part of the “Inspired by Gibson Custom” collection, this Epiphone Les Paul Custom in Ebony is built for players who demand top-tier performance and iconic style. From the solid mahogany body and maple cap to the genuine Gibson USA pickups, every detail is engineered for tone, feel, and visual impact.

Genuine Gibson USA Tone

The heart of this Les Paul Custom is its powerhouse pickup combination: a Gibson USA 490R in the neck and a 498T in the bridge. The 490R serves up warm, buttery, vintage-voiced humbucker tones perfect for soulful leads and articulate rhythm playing. Kick it over to the 498T, and you unleash a hotter, more aggressive sound with a pronounced upper-midrange bite that cuts through any mix, and is perfect for hard rock and searing solos. The electronics are hand-wired with CTS potentiometers and Mallory capacitors, ensuring your signal is pure and responsive to every nuance of your playing.

Classic Feel, Modern Playability

This guitar feels right from the moment you pick it up. The one-piece mahogany neck features a comfortable Modern Medium C profile that’s substantial enough for chording but fast enough for complex lead work. The 12″ radius ebony fingerboard provides a smooth, glassy playing surface for effortless string bending and vibrato. And thanks to the long neck tenon, this guitar resonates with incredible sustain, transferring string energy deep into the solid mahogany body for a rich, blooming tone.

Dressed to Kill

They don’t call it the “tuxedo” for nothing. This guitar is a class act, featuring 7-ply binding on the top, 5-ply on the back and headstock, and single-ply on the fretboard. The stunning gloss Ebony finish is perfectly complemented by the gleaming gold hardware, from the Grover Rotomatic tuners to the LockTone Tune-O-Matic bridge and Stop Bar tailpiece. The classic Gibson “open book” headstock with the Mother of Pearl split diamond inlay completes the iconic look, making a bold statement before you even play a note.

The Lowdown

We get it. Buying a guitar you haven’t played is a big decision. You need to know it’s going to feel right, sound right, and inspire you the second you open the case. We put together the questions we’d be asking if we were in your shoes—the real-world stuff that specs alone can’t answer. If there’s anything else you’re wondering about, just give us a call.

You’re getting the authentic voice of a real Gibson Les Paul. The 490R and 498T are the same pickups used in many Gibson models, giving you that classic rock muscle, dynamic response, and tonal complexity without the Gibson price tag. It’s a massive upgrade that defines the sound of this instrument.
The long tenon is a traditional construction method where the neck extends further into the body cavity, creating more contact area between the neck and body. This significantly improves sustain and resonance because the two pieces of wood vibrate more effectively as a single unit. It’s a premium feature that you can both hear and feel.
Of course. Every guitar gets our full Player-Perfect™ setup, but tell us your preferred string gauge and action at checkout, and we’ll dial it in exactly to your spec before it leaves the shop.
This guitar is covered by our 14-Day Return Policy. If you’re not completely inspired by it, just let us know. We’ll make it right.
If you order before 3 PM CST on a weekday, it ships the same day. We’ll get it into your hands fast with free, insured 2-3 day shipping.
Call us at (888) 794-8482. You’ll talk to a real musician who can answer anything you need to know.
