Product Description

A Blues-Rock Legend Reborn

Here’s a guitar with a story. This pre-owned 2022 Epiphone is a faithful tribute to the 1962 Gibson ES-335 that Joe Bonamassa used on his very first solo album. It’s a killer semi-hollow that captures the look, feel, and, most importantly, the tone of a classic era. This one is in excellent condition and ready to make some history of its own.

Built for Tone and Resonance

The body is crafted from 5-ply layered maple, paired with a solid maple center block, a combination renowned for its ability to produce warm, resonant tones while effectively cutting down on feedback. The one-piece mahogany neck has a comfortable Rounded C profile that feels substantial and familiar in your hands, perfect for digging into bluesy bends or chording for hours. The whole package is finished in a gorgeous Sixties Cherry, set off by single-ply cream binding for that timeless, classy look.

Authentic PAF-Style Grit

The heart of this guitar is its powerhouse electronics. It’s loaded with a set of genuine Gibson Burstbucker pickups, a BB2 in the neck and a slightly hotter BB3 in the bridge. These pickups are known for their airy, full-bodied tone that blooms with harmonic complexity. They’re not wax-potted, delivering that authentic, slightly unhinged PAF response that cleans up beautifully and snarls when you push it. The signal path is kept pure with top-shelf components, including CTS pots and Mallory capacitors, ensuring every nuance of your playing comes through with clarity and richness.

Vintage Vibe and Modern Playability

From the Maestro Vibrola tailpiece for subtle shimmers to the Epiphone Deluxe tuners, the hardware is all nickel-plated and stage-ready. The Indian Laurel fingerboard features classic small block inlays and a 12″ radius, offering a comfortable playing surface for both rhythm and lead work. This isn’t just a signature model; it’s a meticulously crafted instrument designed for players who demand vintage tone with reliable, modern performance.

Anatomy of a Tone Machine

Anatomy of a Tone Machine

Perfect for: Blues • Rock • Jazz • Fusion

Tone

  • The overwound Burstbucker 3 in the bridge cuts with a gritty, articulate bite and enhanced highs perfect for searing leads.
  • The medium-output Burstbucker 2 in the neck is warm and airy, offering smooth, vocal-like tones for rhythm or soulful solos.
  • The middle position blends the two for a dynamic, open sound with a complex midrange, great for expressive rhythm work.
  • Responds instantly to your pick attack, cleaning up nicely with a softer touch and blooming into rich overdrive when you dig in.

Playing Feel

  • Well-balanced and substantial, the semi-hollow body feels solid and resonant against your own.
  • The Rounded C neck profile is a comfortable handful, giving you plenty to grab onto for big bends and confident fretting.
  • The Maestro Vibrola offers a smooth, subtle shimmer without sacrificing tuning stability for most playing styles.
  • A guitar that feels broken-in from the first chord, inviting long sessions whether you're on stage or in the studio.

Versatility

  • Excels at everything from glassy cleans to gritty, overdriven blues and classic rock crunch.
  • The unpotted Burstbuckers love pedals, providing a dynamic platform for your favorite drives, fuzzes, and modulations.
  • In the studio, it delivers that classic semi-hollow body warmth and midrange that sits perfectly in a mix.
  • Cuts through a live band mix with authority, but can also be tamed for more nuanced jazz or blues settings.

The Lowdown

We get it. Buying a guitar you haven’t played is a big decision. You need to know it’s going to feel right, sound right, and inspire you the second you open the case. We put together the questions we’d be asking if we were in your shoes—the real-world stuff that specs alone can’t answer. If there’s anything else you’re wondering about, just give us a call.

It’s a huge upgrade. The Gibson Burstbuckers provide a much more authentic, vintage PAF-style tone. They are unpotted, which gives them an open, airy quality with incredible touch sensitivity and complex harmonics that you typically find on high-end Gibson models. The clarity, grit, and dynamic range are a significant step up.
The Maestro Vibrola is designed for adding gentle shimmers and warbles, true to its vintage roots. It’s fantastic for expressive chords and subtle note bends. For aggressive dive-bombs or heavy vibrato, a locking tremolo system would be more suitable, but for classic blues, rock, and jazz, the Maestro adds beautiful texture and character.
Of course. Every guitar gets our full Player-Perfect™ setup, but tell us your preferred string gauge and action at checkout, and we’ll dial it in exactly to your spec before it leaves the shop.
This guitar is covered by our 14-Day Return Policy. If you’re not completely inspired by it, just let us know. We’ll make it right.
Orders ship same day in most cases and arrive within 1-4 business days with free, insured shipping. We’ll get it into your hands as quickly as we can.
