Moore Guitars  ×  Jared James Nichols

The Way Back Challenge
Official Rules

No purchase necessary to enter or win. A purchase will not improve your chances of winning. Void where prohibited.

1. Sponsor

Mulzer Music LLC, doing business as Moore Guitars, 301 N Royal Ave, Evansville, IN 47715 (the "Sponsor"). The Way Back Challenge (the "Contest") is a skill based contest, not a sweepstakes or game of chance, except for the album drawing described in Section 8.

2. Entry period

The Contest opens at 12:00am Central Time on August 21, 2026 and closes at 11:59pm Central Time on September 18, 2026 (the "Entry Period"). Sponsor's computer is the official timekeeper. Sponsor reserves the right to extend the Entry Period by up to 48 hours, announced on the Contest page.

3. Eligibility

  • Open to legal residents of the fifty United States and the District of Columbia who are 18 years of age or older, or the age of majority in their state of residence if higher, at the time of entry.
  • Employees, officers and directors of Sponsor, Gibson Brands, Seymour Duncan, Vintage Guitar magazine and Frontiers Music Srl, and the immediate family members and household members of each, are not eligible.
  • Any player invited by Sponsor or its partners to post a demonstration performance is not eligible to win.
  • Void where prohibited or restricted by law.

4. How to enter

There are two steps and neither one costs anything.

  1. Register. Complete the entry form at mooreguitars.com/gibson-futura-giveaway with your first name, email address, and the social media handle you will post under. Registration alone enters you in the album drawing described in Section 8.
  2. Post your performance. Record yourself playing a guitar solo over "Way Back" by Jared James Nichols and post the video publicly on Instagram, YouTube, TikTok or Facebook. Your post must tag @mooreguitars and @jaredjamesnichols and include #WayBackChallenge and #contest in the caption. On YouTube, tag Sponsor as @MooreMusicGuitars.

A complete entry requires both steps. Sponsor identifies entries from the required tags and hashtags and matches them to registrations using the handle you provided, so the handle you register must be the account you post from.

Play-along files. Sponsor makes two audio files available on the Contest page, the recording with the guitar solo removed and the solo recording on its own, supplied by the artist's representatives for this Contest. They are provided only to help you record your entry. You may not redistribute them, make them available to anyone else, or use them for any commercial purpose. Using them is optional and playing over the commercially released recording is an equally valid entry.

If you think we missed your post. Public posts are not always surfaced reliably by every platform. If you have completed both steps and do not see yourself among the finalists announced under Section 7, contact Sponsor at info@mooreguitars.com on or before September 22, 2026 and Sponsor will review your entry.

5. Entry requirements

  • One video entry per person. Duplicate registrations are removed. If you post more than one qualifying video, the last one posted before the close of the Entry Period is the entry Sponsor will judge.
  • Your post must remain public and available through October 1, 2026. Entries deleted or made private before that date may be disqualified.
  • You must be the person performing, and the recording must be made by you or with your permission.
  • Your entry may not contain any other identifiable person without their written permission, and may not contain third party content you do not have the right to use.
  • Entries that are unlawful, obscene, hateful, defamatory, or that disparage Sponsor or its partners, may be disqualified at Sponsor's sole discretion.
  • Entries generated by automated means, or submitted by anyone other than the performer, are void.

If a platform mutes, blocks or removes your entry. Social platforms run automatic music matching, and a post containing a commercially released song can be claimed, muted or taken down without warning. You will not be disqualified because a platform acted on your post. If it happens, keep your original video file, contact Sponsor at info@mooreguitars.com, and Sponsor will work with you to get your entry judged, which may include reviewing your original file directly.

Sponsor recommends keeping the original recording until winners are announced.

6. Judging criteria

Entries are scored on the following published criteria. Each category is scored from 0 to 10 and weighted as shown.

  • Musicality and phrasing, 35%. Does the solo say something over this particular track.
  • Originality, 30%. Playing that sounds like you. Reproducing the original solo note for note is not what wins.
  • Tone and feel, 20%. Attitude, touch and commitment to the take.
  • Presentation, 15%. Audio that can be heard and video that can be seen. Production value is not scored and phone recordings are expressly acceptable.

Judges score independently before conferring. In the event of a tie in total score, Jared James Nichols will select the winner from the tied entries on the same published criteria. Ties are not broken by any random or chance method.

7. Selection of finalists and winners

  1. Shortlist. Following the close of the Entry Period, Sponsor will shortlist up to 30 entries on the criteria in Section 6.
  2. Public vote. Sponsor intends to publish the shortlist on its Instagram account beginning on or about September 22, 2026, where public engagement through September 29, 2026 will narrow the shortlist to up to 10 finalists. Sponsor reserves the right to modify or omit this round in its sole discretion, including where the number of entries received makes it impractical, in which case finalists will be selected by the judging panel on the criteria in Section 6.
  3. Final judging. The judging panel selects the winners from the finalists. The panel consists of Jared James Nichols, a representative of Vintage Guitar magazine, and a representative of Sponsor.
  4. Announcement. Winners will be announced on or about October 1, 2026 and notified by the email address given at registration.

Judges' and Sponsor's decisions are final and binding in all matters relating to the Contest.

8. Prizes

  • Grand prize, one. A Gibson Custom 1957 Mahogany Futura Reissue VOS electric guitar, supplied with its stock white pickguard and a custom black pickguard signed by Jared James Nichols. Approximate retail value $5,499. Awarded on the judged criteria in Section 6.
  • Second and third place, three total. Seymour Duncan JJN P90 Silencer pickups, approximate retail value $149 each. Awarded on the judged criteria in Section 6.
  • Album drawing, ten. Ten signed copies of the album Louder Than Fate by Jared James Nichols, awarded by random drawing from all valid registrations received during the Entry Period. No video is required to be eligible for this drawing. Odds of winning depend on the number of eligible registrations received.
  • Store credit. Each person who registers receives a single use $25 promotional code valid on orders of $99 or more at mooreguitars.com through December 31, 2026. Limit one per person and per email address. The code has no cash value, cannot be combined with other offers, and is not a prize awarded by chance or skill.

Total approximate retail value of all prizes: $5,946, excluding store credit. Prizes are not transferable and no substitution is permitted except by Sponsor, which reserves the right to substitute a prize of equal or greater value if an advertised prize becomes unavailable.

9. Taxes

All federal, state and local taxes on prizes are the sole responsibility of the winner. Prizes valued at $600 or more will be reported on IRS Form 1099-MISC. The grand prize winner must complete and return a Form W-9, an affidavit of eligibility and a liability and publicity release before the guitar is shipped. Failure to return required documents within 10 days of notification may result in forfeiture and selection of an alternate winner.

10. Rights you grant

By entering, you grant Sponsor and its promotional partners a non exclusive, worldwide, royalty free, perpetual and sublicensable right to use, reproduce, edit, publish, repost and display your entry video, your name and your social media handle, in any media now known or later developed, for purposes of administering and promoting the Contest and Sponsor's business, including in paid advertising, without further notice, compensation or approval, except where prohibited by law.

You retain ownership of your performance. You represent that you own or control all rights necessary to grant this licence, and that your entry does not infringe the rights of any third party.

11. Disclosure

Entrants must include #contest in the caption of their entry post. This is a disclosure requirement, not a preference. Entries that omit it may be disqualified.

12. Release and limitation of liability

By entering, you release Sponsor, Gibson Brands, Seymour Duncan, Vintage Guitar magazine, Frontiers Music Srl, Jared James Nichols and each of their respective affiliates, officers, employees and agents from any liability for any loss, injury or damage arising from participation in the Contest or acceptance, possession or use of any prize. Sponsor is not responsible for entries that are lost, late, misdirected, incomplete, not received, or not surfaced by any social media platform, or for technical failures of any kind.

13. General conditions

Sponsor reserves the right to cancel, suspend or modify the Contest, in whole or in part, if fraud, technical failure or any other factor beyond Sponsor's reasonable control impairs the integrity or proper functioning of the Contest. Any attempt to deliberately undermine the legitimate operation of the Contest may be a violation of criminal and civil law.

This Contest is governed by the laws of the State of Indiana without regard to conflict of law principles. All disputes shall be resolved exclusively in the state or federal courts located in Vanderburgh County, Indiana.

14. Privacy

Information collected from entrants is subject to Sponsor's privacy policy. By registering you agree that Sponsor may contact you about the Contest and, where you have opted in, about products and offers. You may unsubscribe at any time.
