Product Description

A Legend Reborn: Vintage Firebird Swagger, Modern Playability

They got it right. This Epiphone Inspired by Gibson Custom 1963 Firebird V is a stunningly accurate recreation of a certified icon, packing all the vibe, feel, and most importantly, the tone that made the originals legendary. This isn’t just a lookalike; it’s a collaboration between Epiphone and the Gibson Custom Shop to build a Firebird the way it was meant to be, from the neck-through construction to the genuine Gibson USA pickups. Decked out in a killer Frost Blue finish, this guitar is a straight-up rock ‘n’ roll machine.

Neck-Through Sustain for Days

The heart of any great Firebird is its unique construction. A 9-ply laminate of Mahogany and Walnut runs the entire length of the instrument, from the headstock to the strap button, with solid Mahogany wings glued to the sides. This isn’t just for looks, it’s the secret sauce to the Firebird’s incredible resonance and sustain. Every note you play feels connected to the entire piece of wood, creating a bloom and a piano-like clarity that sets it apart from bolt-on or set-neck designs. It feels alive in your hands.

Genuine Gibson USA Tone

This ‘Bird doesn’t just look the part, it screams it. Epiphone loaded this model with a pair of Gibson USA Firebird Mini Humbuckers with Alnico 5 magnets. These pickups are the real deal, delivering that perfect middle ground between a thick, powerful humbucker and a biting, articulate single-coil. The bridge pickup has a throaty growl with plenty of cut, while the neck is warm and glassy, perfect for bluesy leads. The electronics are top-shelf, with CTS pots, Mallory capacitors, and a Switchcraft toggle and jack, ensuring your signal is pure and responsive.

Vintage Feel, Modern Reliability

Every detail is geared towards an authentic 1963 experience. The 1963 Firebird neck profile feels substantial yet comfortable, while the 12″ radius Indian Laurel fingerboard and Medium Jumbo frets make for effortless bending and chording. The Maestro Vibrola tailpiece provides smooth, expressive pitch modulation, and the Kluson “banjo-style” planetary tuners offer rock-solid tuning stability with a classic look. This guitar hangs comfortably, thanks to the historically accurate strap button placement, letting you focus on the music.

The Lowdown

We get it. Buying a guitar you haven’t played is a big decision. You need to know it’s going to feel right, sound right, and inspire you the second you open the case. We put together the questions we’d be asking if we were in your shoes—the real-world stuff that specs alone can’t answer. If there’s anything else you’re wondering about, just give us a call.

The 9-ply mahogany and walnut neck runs through the entire body, which is the authentic 1963 construction method. Sonically, it creates a massive amount of sustain and resonance, notes just seem to ring out forever. It also provides a super smooth feel at the neck heel for easier access to the highest frets.
They’re fantastic. Gibson USA Firebird mini-humbuckers have a unique voice that’s brighter and more focused than a typical PAF-style humbucker, but with more body and warmth than a single-coil. It’s a ‘best-of-both-worlds’ situation that lets you cut through a mix without sounding thin or harsh.
Of course. Every guitar gets our full Player-Perfect™ setup, but tell us your preferred string gauge and action at checkout, and we’ll dial it in exactly to your spec before it leaves the shop.
This guitar is covered by our 14-Day Return Policy. If you’re not completely inspired by it, just let us know. We’ll make it right.
Orders ship same day in most cases and arrive within 1-4 business days with free, insured shipping. We’ll get it into your hands as quickly as we can.
