Notes from the Moore Guitar Staff
Designing a custom guitar opens up a world of possibilities. It all begins with selecting the body shape that feels right in your hands—or better yet, one that fits both your playing style and your sonic goals. From there, it’s about choosing the perfect tonewoods to capture the sound you hear in your head, then adding the visual touches—from stains and finishes to intricate inlays—that make it uniquely yours.
But customization isn't without its challenges. Not every wood pairing is a match made in heaven. Over the past century, builders have discovered combinations that produce truly inspiring tones—and others that fall flat. That’s why it’s so important to strike the right balance between sound and style. With thoughtful choices and expert craftsmanship, the results can be truly exceptional.
So what is Bubinga? Let's try to help you "hear" that in print! It's tone lies somewhere in that elusive area between rosewood and maple, but has a unique character all it's own! It's bass tends to be strong and tight - some would say more "focused" then a rosewood which means certain frequencies may be more pronounced which in a fingerstyle setting adds great color! The mids tend to be slightly "scooped" (reduced) but present; and the highs will have great definition with just the right amount of sparkle! As you get deeper into it, the guitar tends to have rich and controlled overtones, and the overall projection is powerful and as the wood ages will provide great sustain!
Add to this the fact that this guitar body shape is in the "battleship class" of a dreadnought, this is the classic acoustic guitar shape that provides a comfortable and instantly recognizable feel of a true Martin acoustic! This is a guitar that you will feel instantly at home with and will provide a very unique tonal experience for your collection!

-In business since 1976! Moore Music has been a premier brick-and-mortar guitar shop in Evansville, Indiana since shortly after opening in 1976. Founder, Pat Moore, instilled in his business the concept of old-school service that we build upon today. When the current owner, Brett Mulzer, took the store online as Moore Guitars in 2013, we quickly developed a reputation for honesty and integrity in all our interactions with our customers. That’s a prime reason why we’re the fastest-growing online guitar shop.
-Old School Customer Service! Nothing is more important than helping a customer even if we don’t make a sale. We believe that if we’re honest with you, and treat you right, you’ll be back. -Our sales staff are all musicians! What’s more important than communication? We speak your language. Whether you’re a beginner or a professional player, we’ve been in your shoes. A lot of aspects of the guitar are intangible, and a non-player just can’t understand. It’s a guitar thing. But we can talk about tone and feel in the same language you use. We know what it means to love an instrument, and we want to help you find your new love.
You should have NO disappointments when you see this guitar and hold it for its first strum!
