Notes from the Moore Guitar Staff
Designing a custom guitar opens up a world of possibilities. It all begins with selecting the body shape that feels right in your hands—or better yet, one that fits both your playing style and your sonic goals. From there, it’s about choosing the perfect tonewoods to capture the sound you hear in your head, then adding the visual touches—from stains and finishes to intricate inlays—that make it uniquely yours.
But customization isn't without its challenges. Not every wood pairing is a match made in heaven. Over the past century, builders have discovered combinations that produce truly inspiring tones—and others that fall flat. That’s why it’s so important to strike the right balance between sound and style. With thoughtful choices and expert craftsmanship, the results can be truly exceptional. And this particular build? It's one of those rare, extra-special guitars where everything just came together beautifully.
This particular example has some very interesting characteristics to it that makes it an extra special piece to add to anyone's collection. Let's start off with the easiest choice - how visually striking this guitar is! The Hawaiian Koa is highly flamed (HIGHLY FLAMED!) and has wood grains that are beautifully book-matched. The ambertone burst highlights the grain perfectly to bring out the absolute beauty of the top, back, and sides - even the headstsock! You just don't put any old stain on a wood choice like this - this has to be properly applied and thought out with just the right amount of darkening agent to make this grain "pop", and this one does!
Its 000/OM "Concert size" body is inspired by an OM-28, but features a full 25.4" scale length on a 12 Fret body. This scale length puts the strings under a little higher tension to produce a little more volume and projection than it's shorter 24.9" scale brethren's. The neck itself has a modified V profile with a standard neck taper. A 16" radius and 1-3/4" nut will provide a very natural feel as you move up and down the neck.
Weighing in at only 4 lbs, this guitar will be a joy to hold and make your own music with! Please see all of the very detailed specifications below as we have been very careful to document all of the additional details on inlays, bracing, and special features of this unique instrument. Please call us if you have any other questions about this very special instrument!

-In business since 1976! Moore Music has been a premier brick-and-mortar guitar shop in Evansville, Indiana since shortly after opening in 1976. Founder, Pat Moore, instilled in his business the concept of old-school service that we build upon today. When the current owner, Brett Mulzer, took the store online as Moore Guitars in 2013, we quickly developed a reputation for honesty and integrity in all our interactions with our customers. That’s a prime reason why we’re the fastest-growing online guitar shop.
-Old School Customer Service! Nothing is more important than helping a customer even if we don’t make a sale. We believe that if we’re honest with you, and treat you right, you’ll be back. Call us, or chat with us online. We love talking about guitars, and we want to help you find your perfect instrument. Even if it’s not from us.... but we think it will be!
-Our sales staff are all musicians! What’s more important than communication? We speak your language. Whether you’re a beginner or a professional player, we’ve been in your shoes. A lot of aspects of the guitar are intangible, and a non-player just can’t understand. It’s a guitar thing. But we can talk about tone and feel in the same language you use. We know what it means to love an instrument, and we want to help you find your new love.
You should have NO disappointments when you see this guitar and hold it for its first strum!
