A few notes from the Moore Guitars staff concerning this Gibson Hummingbird Custom:

Before we get into the hard specs of this particular guitar, lets talk about "this one" - let's get an overall "players" view of this instrument. What would happen if you married a Les Paul Custom with a square shouldered Hummingbird Dreadnaught Acoustic?  Follow me here - the multi-ply bindings on the top AND back - the gold hardware, Gloss Nitrocellulose Lacquer finish, the split diamond headstock inlay?  Whoa!  Stop right there, and sign me up!  It carries a classic dreadnaught mahogany tone, but what does that mean to you? Mahogany is one of the "big three" tonewoods of the acoustic guitar world (along with maple and rosewood).  The great thing about mahogany is it's warmth and "natural compression" that smooths out your right hand technique - whether you strum or play fingerstyle - all the notes seem to blend in to form a warm beautiful tone; and the magical combination with the spruce top brings clarity and volume.  Mahogany Jumbo guitars are perfect for providing a "base" for recording or live projects. The LR Baggs VTC (volume/tone control) is a great addition to help you dial in the exact tone you're looking for if you need to plug in for live or studio sessions. (cool tip: if you're recording, use two channels - one for the LR Baggs ,and then throw a condenser mic about 3" from the12th fret....then balance it out in the mix!).  The nitrocellulose lacquer finish looks amazing and will gracefully age giving you an amazing legacy guitar for your collection.

Another interesting specification on this Humminbird is that this guitar has a shorter 24.75" scale length (same as a Les Paul Electric guitar).  For the player, this brings an entirely different string "feel".  The tension of the string "at pitch" is entirely different and provides an amazing tactile playing experience; the string gauge will feel instantly "lighter" and the string vibration totally different than the 25.5" scale length of most other acoustic guitars. This along with a round profile neck and 12" fingerboard radius gives this an extremely comfortable playing experience.

A few notes from Gibson on the Hummingbird Custom:

The Hummingbird™ was Gibson’s first square-shoulder acoustic model and has been the choice of musical legends across genres for generations. Now, the Gibson Custom Shop is proud to introduce the new Hummingbird Custom. It builds on the classic Hummingbird features that players expect, including a Sitka spruce top, mahogany back and sides, and a 24.75” scale mahogany neck with a round profile, and adds Les Paul™ Custom-inspired cosmetics, including an Ebony nitrocellulose lacquer finish, multi-ply binding on the top and back, a Les Paul-style peghead with a Custom split diamond inlay in mother of pearl, a bound ebony fretboard with mother of pearl Custom Block inlays, and gold Grover® Rotomatic® tuners. It comes equipped with L.R. Baggs™ Session VTC electronics and a hardshell case.
