Fender Custom Shop 1960 Telecaster Custom Heavy Relic
There's just something about the feel of an old Tele'! If you've never cradled one in your arms, you're missing the experience of a lifetime. If you know the feeling of getting into a brand new car on the showroom, there is that "new car smell"; and then you climb into a 1960 Impala - black exterior with an "aged/worn just right" interior that has been meticulously restored EXCEPT for the "wears and tears" that 65+ years of use brought! Now that's an entirely different and exhilarating experience! The way the controls feel, and the way the car roars to life when started. If you can picture that, then you'll get just a glimpse of what it's like holding a guitar such as this!

Before we get into the “hard specs” of this particular guitar, let's get an overall, holistic view of this instrument. Fender describes the "Heavy Relic" Aging model as follows: "The heaviest of the relic treatments, designed to evoke decades of the most punishing play and touring. From serious dings and wear to intensely discolored hardware and finish; the true battle-hardened workhorse."
The tone and feel of this aged 1960 Tele will feel very comfortable in the first few seconds of play time! The wiring on this guitar uses Fender's modern Tele design, so there will be no surprises which pickup is doing the talking with it's 3-position switch; and the hand-wound single coil tele pickups will give you that vintage twang as well as warmth and bite when you delicately use the well tuned volume and tone controls - mix exactly the tones you are looking for combining these controls with your amps controls (May we recommend a Fender Bass Breaker 15 combo; or a Princeton, or Deluxe Reverb? Okay - a Marshall 50 watt! It won't matter - they ALL work great with this Tele!)
Your fretting hand will thank you for this AAA Rosewood fingerboard on a 9-1/2" radius/21 fret 5/4 sawn maple neck. This Tele just WANTS to be played. Don't leave it home - it will just get mad at you later!
